On Friday 12 December, the Year 4 students at St John Fisher Primary School received a special session alongside their usual tennis lessons at the Community Tennis Centre.
Alfie Hewitt, 33-times Grand Slam Champion in singles and doubles, led a session for the students to teach them how to use a wheelchair. The students took it in turns to experience the wheelchairs and had fun learning to manoeuvre and race in teams to appreciate the skill and dexterity required to get around the court.
Alfie also dropped in on the weekly wheelchair Pay & Play and had a hit with our regular players who were delighted to see him and wish him well before he heads off to the Australian Open to defend his singles and doubles titles. Wish wish him the very best of luck in Melbourne!
